Splice of barbed wire

This old and rusty splice of two barbed wire strands reminds me of some marriages, partnerships or other mergers - twisted together with a pair of pliers without any thought or care for how the combination will look and feel after the event. But, you say, "we don't have time to thread together the individual strands to make a smooth and happy combination. We just need (want) to be together." However, thoughtless combinations, like some ill-conceived marriages or living arrangements or careless combinations are likely to end up with a twisted, rusty splice that looks bad and feels worse. The fabric of lives are torn until it is unraveled and properly put back together or cut away and left on the ground."
